    Tattoos and Body Art

    Tattoos and Body Art, when combined, can be looked at as two very broad terms which can include anything from ear piercing to a bizarre tattoo combo along with some cool paintings related to skin decorations and body art designs.


    It seems as if more people are now getting both tattoos and body art simultaneously in a few sittings at their favorite tattoo shop down the road. Most everyone loves to express their individuality and be creative in some way or another.

    Along with body piercing and tattooing, this art form is steadily growing in popularity and being more recognized as a “true” art form instead of “taboo” in the past.

    The time and effort that is put into both tattooing and body piercing should be recognized more anyway in my opinion. Even though with the Internet and technology we have today, body art in any category is and always will be an “art form” due to the tremendous effort and painstaking time put into making these designs perfect.

    I am hoping that one day their will be museums solely dedicated to “just” this art form entirely. That would be nice, wouldn’t it? Imagine walking into a museum and taking a tour of just body art and tattoo designs? Even have live subjects instead of manikins.

    Even today, the growth of this art form has even reached the unique marketing method of models showcasing their company logos inked onto their bodies. Cool, yes?

    Tattoos are an ancient art. The word “Tattoo” comes from a Tahitian word “Tatau“, which goes way back in time. Queens and Kings have had their bodies inked with designs showing anything from “courage” to “battles fought” to even remembrance of a significant loved one.

    Back then, body ink was permanent. Now, you have a choice if you want it temporary or not. Even though many say there is a big difference between the two, as our technology progresses even further, it becomes increasingly difficult to differentiate between the two.

    Tongue Tattoos Galore – Insane and Bizarre

    Where else on the human body can be a more insane place for a tattoo.

    Not too long ago, I came across something that totally made my brain wander: Tongue tattoos. Of course, you may say, this is insane but i am intrigued with it non-the-less. Will I get one any time soon? I do not think so but even though I may pussy out on this insane tattoo, I still feel that this particular art form is  incredible and bizarre at the same time!

    I am fascinated with this from an artists viewpoint. Believe it or not, many of these tongue tattoo designs are pretty cool looking. At the same time, I have also realized that tongue tattoos are a perfect compliment to tongue piercing.

    According to several individuals who had a tongue tattoo inked for them have admitted it hurts like hell and to speaking after the procedure is difficult. However, the reward of being able to flash out their tongues and surprise people who are wouldn’t usually expect this is worth the suffering.

    Even more, some individuals have said that foods taste like burnt skin after getting this ink job on their tongue. That would suck!

    Upon searching more, there was this article saying that in the 1820’s the Hawaiian Queen Kamamalu got a tongue tattoo inked so that she could show her grief for the death of her mother in law. This process was documented by a missionary named William Ellis who stated that “the queen must be in great pain”.., she replied; “He eha nui no, he nui roa ra ku‘u aroha.” ,which is translated in Hawaiian as:(Great pain indeed, greater is my affection.)

    The color pigment should hold if tattooed properly with a syringe. By using a certain injection style of tattooing the tongue, there is a procedure called ” a forced blow out” which is created beneath the skin. This is done by injecting pigment into permanent layers of skin, as it is known in tattooing. A word of caution is you have to be aware not to inject the pigment intramuscular.

    After all of this, I do not believe i will be getting a tongue tattoo in the near future but now at least I realize that these are beautiful works of art, even on the tongue.

    Girl Tattoos – Nasty Spots for Females

    There are certain tattoos that look awesome on people and then there are tattoos that look like they do not belong.
    Below are a few examples of tattoo placements that women should not get:

    1. Tattoos on Wrist – The wrist is a great place to get inked but not for girls. This area is not very attractive. The inking on the wrist is usually associated with a masculine symbol.

    2. Tattoos on Forearm – Without a doubt, the area of skin pertaining to the forearm is one of the best areas on the body for body art. It is very elastic and stretchy. The healing is notably and visibly faster. However, for a lady, this is not that easy to conceal and hide for it shows almost all of the time. Not that attractive.

    3. Tattoos of Neck – Anywhere on the neck, the neck tattoo is a future warning sign of remorse. This area takes and holds ink well, but it is still an area of the women body where a tattoo does not go to well with their feminine beauty side.

    4. Between Breast Tattoo – Most tattoo artists know that some of the best skin on the body is found on the chest. I am sure it will look sexy while they are young but not when they are in their 80′s.

    5. Tattoos on Face – Facial tattooing is definitely known more for the men then the women even though women in different cultures do get inked on their faces. Besides getting eyeliner or lip liner inked, actual tattoo designs on the larger part of the face of a women just do not make sense.

    6. Tattoos on Toes – A very difficult area to ink, at least for most artists, because the skin does not stretch well and there is not much skin and area to cover. Mistakes are common. The healing process for a toe tattoo usually never comes out well because of the bandages used. They seem to cause problems leaving an ugly, permanent disaster from poor healing.
